Jennie Roberts Hair Academy (2023)
Objective: Soft and natural lighting to showcase a variety of afro hair types. This shoot required 13 subjects to be lit at one time.
Approach: First utilising natural daylight as a fill/ambient light source, we then controlled the drop off with an Octa Box and rigged it directly overhead our subjects. This also highlighted the focus of the shoot, the hair. We then used an additional soft-box as the key light with two poly boards achieving an even light that showcased the subjects with a natural look that befitted the brief.

Campaign Against Antisemitism (2022)
Objective: For Campaign Against Antisemitism’s latest billboard campaign we were briefed with creating striking and defiant images of various subjects,.
Approach: Deciding that somewhere between a hard light and soft light would be best for this effect, we opted to use a beauty dish that provided us with a semi hard light. This gave us more of a striking effect while not being too harsh to be unflattering. This was then balanced with a bounce off the ceiling and additional poly for fill.

Phillips Lepley (2022)
Objective: The shoot involved a lot of looks and multiple locations making it a fast paced day. The client specialises in couture wedding gowns so our intention was a beauty and glamour style look that was in line with the brands timeless and elegant feel.
Approach: Using two strobes and a beauty dish, we kept the set-up light and agile so that we could change location and thus the lighting, as fast as we could change looks. We used one light bounced off the ceiling and walls of the venue as a fill, the second with a beauty dish as our key light. Part of the challenge of this shoot was ensuring continuity throughout the day, but I achieved this by adjusting the edits as we went.

Futsols x Normans (2023)
Objective: Aiming to capture numerous subjects in both candid conversation alongside a written interview to showcase the brands latest collection.
Approach: First considering the limited space of the location, we decided to use a single large light source with additional diffusion to light a large area to encapsulate all of the subjects. This also made the setup easy to move and adjust as the day progressed. An additional bounce was used to help with drop off and fill. While we considered a multi light setup, this worked well with the space and time constrictions.

HYPEBEAST Visits (2023)
Objective: As part of HypeBeasts ongoing Hypebeast Visits series we approached to capture DJ Jordss in her creative spaces in this documentary style editorial in collaboration with outdoors brand The North Face.
Approach: Due to its documentary style brief, we aimed to mimic natural light as close as possible, creating a soft flattering light with minimal shadows. We achieved this by using a large soft box close to the subject with additional skim to soften the light as much as possible. To manage/minimise shadows we used an additional strobe bounced off the room in the far corner.

Fenwick (2023)
Objective: Fenwick’s upcoming Fall Collection was both location and studio based. By paying attention to the colours of the looks we ensured continuity throughout out the shoot to represent the products in a natural manner whilst also conveying the season of the collection.
Approach: By using a large soft box for the studio shots, we created a soft natural, wrap around light that suited the brief. Moving onto location, we carefully analysed our surroundings to find the best light that represented the desire season. This shoot was fast paced as we had a lot of looks but we achieved everything on time and within the brief.
